Coal Depot Recreational Sporting Facility Landau

The tracks of the former coal depot form the framework for the new sports park. The existing succession vegetation worth preserving was integrated into the site, contributing to its special atmosphere. The former tracks were filled in and converted into paths. The careful integration of uses allows the landscape aesthetics and ecological qualities of the coal depot to remain tangible. The thinned-out areas of the central gravel surface provide specific play and sporting opportunities. Linear features such as wooden platforms, seating elements and an athletic track that can be used for jogging or boule accompany the paths and emphasise the linearity of the former railway tracks. The eastern end of the sports park comprises a large play area with streetball courts and skating facilities, including a large skate pool. To the north lies a multipurpose field and a large sand area for trend sports like beach volleyball and beach handball. A dirt track and a wood-chip trail each offer a looping course for additional sporting activities.
