LGS Rosenheim 2010
“City to the river” was the motto of Rosenheim’s urban development. A24 Landschaft won the competition for the Rosenheim State Horticultural Show 2010 with the concept of landscaped walkways that interlink the city with its riverscape and make areas on and near the water an experience. The design stresses the characteristic features of the courses of the four rivers – the Inn, Mangfall, Hammerbach and Mühlbach. As a hybrid architectural intervention, the landscape boardwalks, which have a total length of 500 metres, simultaneously function as ramps, bridges, promenades, vantage points, seating and sunbathing areas. Eight bridge structures with a span of up to 78 metres are a subset of these boardwalks. At Mühlbachbogen, where a high-end housing estate will be built after the horticultural show, the Mühlbach was exposed and redesigned as an “urban stream”, creating an attractive green link from the old town to Mangfallpark. Mangfallpark is divided into a southern part, which is designed as a play and sports area, and a more serene northern part. The southern part boasts a children’s kayak course on the Hammerbach as well as the Spielfluss – an expansive adventure playground with a climbing and water forest.
