Bridging – Mondorf Ferry

The Rhine at Mondorf is a tale of two shores: the “Promenade Bank” with recreational facilities and gastronomy on the Mondorf side and the picturesque landscaped bank on the Graurheindorf side. From the ferry, crossing the Rhine unveils an unforeseen expanse, as the banks recede into the distance and you experience the Rhine in its full width. For the short time it takes to cross, you find yourself in a world of your own. The concept of the “One river, two banks” design is to accentuate the two banks in their distinctness in order to orchestrate the moment of crossing the Rhine.
“The Tape #660” is a compilation of sound recordings and material gathered along the Rhine from the Alps to the North Sea. The tape will be played over loudspeakers on board the Mondorf ferry. The installation was planned for the duration of the Regionale 2010.
