Auen Playground Lahn Meadows Gießen

The play area was designed for children ages 0 – 10. Terraces inspired by a floodplain landscape create a gentle zoning that offers a variety of uses, each with age-appropriate space for play and movement. A large mud play area, two large play sculptures reminiscent of stranded fishing boats, a grove of willows with bouncers and hammocks, a tunnel slide and other elements pick up on the theme. The modeled landscape dispenses with classic playground equipment and encourages free play – there is room for experimentation, design and discovery. A surrounding seating wall also offers parents a quality stay and a good view of the playing children. Its location and unusual design make the playground an attraction beyond the neighboring residential quarters.
