Rail Park Schwäbisch Gmünd

The derelict area of the former freight station was transformed into a track park with leisure and sports activities for young people. The wide range of activities includes a beach volleyball court, exercise games such as a large turntable, a slackline parkour and trampolines, as well as a funbox with an EPDM surface for various ball sports and a small playing field with artificial turf. 

The sports fields are embedded in an asphalt surface. Thus, undirected and free movement for inline skaters, BMX riders, etc. is possible on the entire sports park. 25 m long sculptures made of concrete and wood with different levels for sitting and lying down structure the playing fields. They can be used as bleachers, meeting places or for sunbathing. Trees integrated into the sculptures provide shady lounging areas. Three drinking fountains provide water for the players and athletes.
