BUGA Oberes Mittelrheinthal Bacharach 2029
The UNESCO World Heritage Site and the unique landscape in the heart of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley are the focus of the Federal Horticultural Show. Sustainability and the protection of valuable resources are just as central to the show's concept as the rich cultural landscape tradition of the town of Bacharach.
The promenade, constructed in long lines, draws a striking band of movement through the extended riverside park and creates a “second” shoreline. Several new bays at strategically important locations allow the otherwise structurally secured banks to be flattened and greened. The promenade responds to the changed course of the riverbank with clear changes of direction, which emphasize the special anchor points on the water. Three wedge-shaped fingers of land connect the old town with the banks of the Rhine and divide the riverside park into differently programmed segments consisting of a garden park, a landscape garden, a winegrowers' park, an activity park with a city beach, and a residential park.
