LGS Fulda 2023

After the 1994 State Garden Show connected the city center with its historic gardens to the floodplain, the 2023 Garden Show will bring the peripheral industrial areas closer to the floodplain and link the new Fulda-Galerie district in the middle of the agricultural landscape of the surrounding hills across the Fulda floodplains with the city center.

The Fulda floodplains are divided into clearly recognizable sections, with different areas connecting to the urban area: the cathedral quarter and castle park, nature and environmental education, leisure and club sports. In continuing the floodplain green corridor with new leisure uses, the focus is now on the topic of production: industrial production, agricultural production, and food production in the city. The characteristic sequence of different atmospheres and programs is expressed in the diversity of open spaces. There is a strong contrast between the natural floodplain areas in the valley, the urban, industrialized outskirts of the settlement, and the agricultural areas on the ridges.
