Civic Park Grüne Mitte Weinstadt

The Civic Park Grüne Mitte Weinstadt marks a new type of park, one comprising a melange of private, agricultural and public spaces. The park is being developed as the green city centre of Weinstadt and is acts as a model for participation and urban agriculture. It holds the potential to realise integrative open spaces where our increasingly differentiated society can come together again. The goal is an integrated park management in which actors in cooperation with the city assume responsibility for the coordination, use, further development and maintenance of the various areas. To this end, Participation Park implements a contemporary landscape architecture that offers a fixed framework yet with flexible contents that can be continuously negotiated by the users.
Civic Park Grüne Mitte is coordinated and planned by A24 Landschaft and realised along with a number of local partners. The project is funded as part of the German federal government’s National Urban Development Project and is supported by the BBSR (Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development) as a model project in the ExWoSt (Experimental Housing and Urban Development) research field Green Urban Labs.
