Main Information and Adventure Centre Knetzgau

The new component of the information and adventure centre is intended to amplify proximity to the Main River, make the river banks more accessible and enhance destinational appeal. The Main Information Centre (MIZ) is intended to create a new tourist magnet in Knetzgau that is visible from afar and has a ripple effect on the entire region. Both the unusual design language of the architecture and the design of the exterior spaces break new ground. The chief focus of the exterior design is the immediate surroundings of the building and the direct access to the water. The lock, weir and hydroelectric power station have resulted in a monotonous, technologically optimised shoreline, the steep embankments of which create spatial and visual distance to the water. The new component of the MIZ draws the Main closer, makes the riverbank more accessible and creates new destinational appeal. An expansive bay minimises the spatial distance between the building and the riverbank while drawing the river into the centre of perception.
