Hôpital Intercommunal de Steinfort

The existing clinic complex will be expanding with two new buildings by Schemel Wirtz Architectes and Itten+Brechbühl Architekten. The clinic’s outdoor facilities echo the polygonal design language of the architecture, allowing the building and park to merge into a single unit. The striking incline becomes a supporting element of the park, which is connected to the various building levels and the surrounding area via several terraces. The main access is at Rue Hopital and is directly connected to the central car park. The main level of the park extends between the two buildings and occupies the sunny clearing in the middle of the tree-covered hillsides. The central area plays host to tilted meadow slopes with integrated seating elements and retention areas for on-site rainwater infiltration. Individual cross-generational mobility stations inspire physical activity in patients and residents alike.
