Bluegreen Ring Düsseldorf

The Düsseldorf RING development plan adheres to the general principle of an intensively networked cultural landscape with a high degree of experiential value. Improved connections and an increased visibility of cultural institutions are intended to promote cooperation and improve opportunities for identification and participation.
For us, this objective is best achieved through the simultaneous networking of the digital and physical realms. We propose to integrate the further development of the city hardware and city software in a joint development plan. In particular, the perceptibility of the courses of the Rhine and Düssel rivers, two major city landmarks, becomes the focus of the urban redevelopment. The expansion of the city’s traffic infrastructure and its open and green spaces into a continuously perceptible pedestrian RING will run parallel to the development of a new sort of space- and location-sensitive software: RING.app. At certain culturally significant points, the nodes of the digital network manifest themselves as tangible, sculptural street furniture with a high degree of identification value.
