Ehrenhain Luckenwalde

The plan area is part of an important green space connector between the city centre and the park along the Röthegraben. The redesign of the open spaces at the Ehrenhain, or memorial grove, is a significant stepping stone in this concept and stands as a key project for improved linkage. The design concept envisages a fortification of the green axis by way of a spatial sequence including a park, a petting zoo and a memorial grove. The grove is transformed from acting as the northern edge of the park to becoming a green, independent neighbourhood square that acts as the southern entrance to the Dahmer Straße district. The continuity of the overarching network of green infrastructure remains intact and is fortified by a green activity belt along Neue Parkstraße. The interface between the park and the neighbourhood square mediates between the different atmospheres of the open spaces.
