Kita Wallenbergstraße Berlin

The open spaces of the day-care centre read as a large garden as they assimilate into the green framework of allotment gardens and historic parkland at Fennsee. The striking shape of the building divides the site into distinct outdoor spaces with varying atmospheres.
The main access is a plaza-like entrance area with a spacious ground covering of concrete slabs. Directly adjacent to the workroom, the green classroom comprises a flexibly usable space for outdoor craft activities. The school garden with raised vegetable beds and an herb terrace complements the pedagogical facilities. On the western side of the building, the gardens abuzz with beehives, insect hotels and butterfly bushes allow for a special experience of nature. The entire back garden of the day-care centre is designed as a spacious, open meadow area for sports and gymnastics. The cultivated growth will be thinned out here, while more wild growth will be encouraged. The centrally located play area with elements of sand, mud and water is a special highlight. In contrast to the sunny playground, the shady tree grove offers opportunities for more unstructured play and discovery.
