LGS Kamp-Lintfort 2020

Located between Kamp Abbey and the colliery grounds, the Kamp-Lintfort State Horticultural Show spans an arc from the founding of the town to the history of mining and the town’s future. The belt of open space depicts a profile of the city, whose history – in all its facets – becomes both visible and tangible. The monastery illustrates the cultural achievement of the baroque garden terraces and the “old” Lower Rhine landscape. The new landscape on the colliery grounds does not deny its industrial past; it connects both halves of the city and becomes a crystallisation point for urban development with commerce, services and science as well as housing in the heart of the city. With Zechenpark, or colliery park, as the new end point, the existing Wandelweg is strengthened in its importance as the city’s central green link. An appropriate addition to the recreational programme ensures an attractive path connection, even beyond the life of the horticultural show. The historical arc from the abbey via the Fossa Eugeniana to the future location of Zechenpark is complete.
