Rhine Park Weil am Rhein

The open space targeted by the competition wields decisive potential as an initial space for fostering the further development of the Friedlingen district into a civic-oriented quarter possessing multifunctional public space. The design concept relies on clear orientation and linkages through use-specific urban spaces with intuitive connective areas, spatial flexibility and cohesion. This is achieved by way of a strong framework principle, coalescing elements and temporal flexibility through phasing. Existing uses and relics of the harbour economy provide the impetus for a contemporary, atmospherically dense but above all robust design dedicated to the interests of the citizens of Friedlingen.
