Schlosspark Bedburg

The watercourses of the Erft river shape the overall image of Schlosspark, whose appeal lies in the changing atmospheres of reflecting water surfaces, rushing streams and wildly overgrown banks in a tightly confined space. At the centre is the island-like middle of the park with its close relationship to nature – this area’s wildly enchanted character will be preserved and strengthened. The park is divided into three thematically distinct sections with varying functionality and character.
The western half of the park belongs to the historic urban ensemble surrounding the castle pond, with the moated castle at the centre. Listed arcades are linked to form a recognisable design unit that defines a new entrance to the park.
The wildly romantic landscape park as the central section of the greater park invites visitors to stroll quietly and discover it individually. The eastern part of the park will be developed into a densely woven zone of recreation and activity for its adjacent neighbourhoods. All active recreational facilities will be concentrated here, complementing existing elements such as the tennis club, children’s playground and fishing hut.
