Route of the Senses Lemgo

In addition to the flood protection planning, the existing path connections are linked to form a thematic circular path, the Bega Loop. It connects the historically significant town centre and Brake Castle with the more scenic environs of the river meadows. Moreover, the path links to the city’s southern districts, especially to the university campus, will be fortified.
The scenic looping route connects individual stations with diverse points of reference to water and widely varying atmospheres. The element of water can be experienced with all five senses. Rapids alternate with reflective water surfaces, and lushly overgrown riverside gardens with open viewing platforms. Interventions in existing structures and in the natural environment are performed with utmost care. The combination of wood and concrete blends well with the recently upgraded areas of the historic city centre, the castle surroundings and the Innovation Campus Lemgo, thus establishing high recognition value.
